Newborn photography
You will never regret booking a newborn shoot, because they really don't stay little for long. I love capturing their tiny fingers and toes, the peach fuzz hair, the yawns and milky smiles, and the curled up cuteness of the first 3 months of life.
Newborn sessions are ideal in the first 2 weeks for the very teeny details, but older newborns (up to 3mths) are also so special to document - with their eyes wide open and some heart warming interaction to capture between you both.

When is the best time for a newborn photoshoot?
Honestly, anytime is the best time, and I'm not just saying that! If you'd like those teeny tiny, wrapped up shots, that's ideal in the first 10 days. Beyond that, you get eyes wide, interaction, smiles and different holds, which are all beautiful too.
Can the rest of the family come too?
Absolutely! Capturing new siblings is the sweetest thing (even if they are wild 2 year olds that don't sit still for two seconds!). Your shoot will include a mixture of solo photos of baby, then the whole family together, sibling images, and mum and dad with baby separately, so you have a full gallery to choose your final images from. My home studio can accommodate up to 5 family members.
Do you do all the poses and props?
You can see from my work that I use only light posing, in natural positions, and the womb wrap is perfect for newborns. I won't be putting your baby in a flower pot or spending hours posing their hands (no shade to that style of newborn photography, it's just not my thing!). I WILL focus on the connections between you and your baby, and capture all the little details, in the most authentic and relaxed way possible.
Can we do a newborn photoshoot outside?
As much as I love my home studio for newborn and baby shoots, we are blessed with some stunning locations around Gloucestershire and in the warmer months (April-Oct), it's absolutely an option to bundle your newborn up and take them out to the fields or woods. I have locations that are easy to access and require minimal walking.
What if I need to feed my baby or change them?
My sessions allow plenty of time for feeds and changes, which are to be expected with newborns and very welcomed. I often suggest mums offer baby some milk on arrival, to help them settle into a milk drunk sleep, if you'd like to.
What if my baby hasn't arrived by our photoshoot date, or I'm not recovered enough after birth?
When we book in your newborn date, I hold in mind that babies are highly unpredictable (we never know when they will ACTUALLY join us!) so I secure your date as 'floating'. This means I hold space in my diary around your date, to make sure I can rearrange and offer you an alternative if needed, especially if you're struggling with your recovery and need some more time.
Do I need to bring clothes for my baby and me?
I have a client wardrobe of floaty dresses for mum and plenty of wraps, bloomers and outfits for your newborn, that you're welcome to use. I recommend keeping it simple, bare skin shots are always so beautiful too. Before your session I talk through styling options with you, generally keeping it neutral or to an earthy tone is a good bet.
Do I have to have my newborn shoot in your studio, or will you travel to my home?
Of course, I offer in-home newborn shoots too, where you get to stay in the comfort of your own space and I work around you. I travel within 30mins of GL7.
